Summary:

Baalboden has been ravaged. The brutal Commander's whereabouts are unknown. And Rachel, grief stricken over her father's death, needs Logan more than ever. With their ragged group of survivors struggling to forge a future, it's up to Logan to become the leader they need—with Rachel by his side. Under constant threat from rival Carrington's army, who is after the device that controls the Cursed One, the group decides to abandon the ruins of their home and take their chances in the Wasteland.

But soon their problems intensify tenfold: someone—possibly inside their ranks—is sabotaging the survivors, picking them off one by one. The chaos and uncertainty of each day puts unbearable strain on Rachel and Logan, and it isn't long before they feel their love splintering. Even worse, as it becomes clear that the Commander will stop at nothing to destroy them, the band of survivors begins to question whether the price of freedom may be too great—and whether, hunted by their enemies and the murderous traitor in their midst, they can make it out of the Wasteland alive.

In this daring sequel to Defiance, with the world they once loved forever destroyed, Rachel and Logan must decide between a life on the run and standing their ground to fight.

My Thoughts:

I had been waiting for this book since June or May 2013 when I finished the first book in this series Defiance. I will say honestly, I liked the book, it thrilled me to the core, and had me hooked up, but as in the first book, it lacked only one thing, which I do hope we will get to know in the 3rd book which will be out next fall. The thing which I needed to know was, how the hell did my ( our ) civilization crumble, and this Cursed Ones or as Civilized (in the book ) people call it - tanniyn appeared in our world? but leave this one out, and the book is even better then the first one.

If in the first book I liked Rachel, this time, I really got to know her, and how can we better understand a person if we can't see him falling apart, and while doing so, maintaining his/her strength. I always new that Rachel was strong, but the strength she showes us in Deception is something unique. Imagine you lost everyone and you killed a man, and you regrett doing it, because you don't know now if that killing was justified, imagine living, breathing and waking up every day with that guilt : "Guilty. Broken. Alone" Imagine, that you need to be strong to those you have only left, have you? Would you have survived as much as Rachel had, before you fell apart? I don't think so, and it was not stupidity or cowardice that made Rachel hold her nightmares from Logan, but pure courage, and strength, becuase she knew that it was her stregth that Logan needed and not her felling apart.

As for Logan, I loved the guy from the beginning, and now his world which he knew crumbling apart even worse then Rachel's that's really harsh. I wanted to begin Deception as fast as I got hands on my copy, but unfortunately I got it 1.5 weeks ago, and only began reading it yesterday, and to say the truth, it hooked me up so much, that I would read again it, if I didn't have a really big pile of books waiting near my nightstand. Reading the book, felling and struggling what the characters felt and struggled against, and of that Title, it really suits the book, when everything you believed in becomes a lie, it truly is a deception of a lifetime. And leaving everything at a cliffhanger, and making reader crave for the next book is something I adore about the author, but sometimes really hate, this time, I think the book gave us so many interesting information to dwell on, that it will satisfy me for another 2 weeks at least. And I don't mean every lie, I mean I learned so much about characters, and now I can write down my expectations for the 3rd book, and hope that they will not only be rewarded, but will be outspoken.

I think Defiance and Deception are one of taht books, which help us find ourselves, and make us questions ourselves, and that is what makes this book so outstandingly breathtaking. I would recommend it to everyone who liked a good read. Happy Reading Guys! Enjoy the book, and have a great weekend. Don't forget to watch something scary tonight, it Friday 13th. Happy Reading again, and don't forget to leave comments! :))
