I received the ARC of this book in light of the release of the second book in exchange for an honest review.

My actual rating is 2.5 leaves. It would probably go up to 3 leaves, but then I just wasn't sure if I can give it full 3 leaves. I will read the second book because I need to know how it all ends, plus I kind of want to know how Layla and Jared's story.

Well then let's dig in!

The book started soo good, but then the logic of Jared's hatred towards Layla flew out of the window and I was way too pissed and not truly involved. Plus Layla was pissing me off a tad bit way too much. I don't mind a bully romance, sometimes I even like it, but come on we get 2 POV's but don't get the whole understanding of why Jared hates her so much!

But let's take everything one-by-one. So first of all, Layla - she was an interesting character, that I just couldn't like. The author did a good job of describing her trauma, but then again, I thought it was missing something. I mean 7 years of therapy should have given her a bit of a backbone? But no.... She was a dumb scared girl who was seeking to reconcile her love.

Jared - now he was a character that drove me nuts. (Don't get me wrong, I love some good angst), but hell if I wanted to read more about his turmoil. Actually, we didn't get much turmoil at all, which again, I hope is rectified in the second book.

One last thing before I finish off, is it me or am I getting really weird vibes from Evelyn? She's creeping me out a lot. Well then, I'm off to read the second book (I received an ARC for it after all, and I do want to know how it all ends, plus the writing is pretty good (plot pacing is another thing)). Oh, and can my Irish friends tell me do you really have lockers in your colleges? Because that college reminded me more of a high school rather than a college.

As you have noticed I’m back on my blog and I have tons of books and mangas for you. However, I will be taking another one year break off blogging in about a week, but let’s talk about that later. As promised or more likely as I was predicting, during my off blogging time I tried to catch up o my currently and to-read lists as well as books that I got from authors, publishers and of course NetGalley. So if you have sent me a book for a review even in 2014, be sure to check back or wait for my email as I’ve been busy with all of them.

This title I got from Netgalley and I don’t know the reason why I was completely ignoring it. The book started really well, but after 5 chapters I got so understandable that it was too confusing. And now I’m pretty sure you are wondering if I’m all right, because the last sentence was an absolute gibberish. But trust me, once you read the book you’ll understand! Somewhere near the end the author just got tired and rushed everything without even having a second thought. Or maybe it was just me for whom Aiofe’s release from her prison or escape or whatever it was she did wasn’t such a novelty! I’m never good with Fae or fairy books but here I didn’t even remember it was about that and once I got to that part it was too late to abandon the book.

Another thing that pissed me off was an all encompassing description: he was so beautiful I couldn’t look away. I got that the author wanted us to picture the hottest man alive with blue eyes but a bit of description of his other features wouldn’t have hurt too. And for God’s sake why was every one so astonished to know that Allison was Liam’s kid? Didn’t they look totally alike? And how o one could ever see it? I do not really want to start going though everything that pissed me off. Okay the last one. The none existence of romance, sorry of a  normal romance sure was a turn down for me. But everyone is different, therefore you might find this books fantastic. Me? I’m not even considering reading the next book. I might, but not right now! My Thoughts:

I couldn't really finish the book. In the beginning I was confused and was even frustrated with the main characters, mainly with Alexander. He was just reciting how awesome he was at working, with ladies and saying the brand names all the time. That confused me a lot, because I am not a brand whore like Alexander is. So in the beginning I had to do the research to understand what he was talking about. But as time passed, and I got to know more of Alexander, and got the idea of him and understood that if he didn’t talk about himself and brands he wouldn’t have been the Alexander Turner the authors wished him to be.
The story is quite dark and I really loved that in the very beginning the author told us what to expect and what not. That cracked me up, but it still made a lot of sense. The story is about a young man – Alexander Turner; well he’s not that young now if we think of it. It tells us of his obsession with a young girl – Elena Anderson. The story is not of this amazing pure love, it’s dark and that’s what makes it amazing. If you’ve read 50 shades of grey, and thought that something was missing (like I did), well you’ll love this book. It’s what a dark erotica should be like – intense, fiery and with lots of raw emotions.
If I got to like Alexander throughout the book, unfortunately the same didn’t happen with Elena. I don’t get it, but I didn’t really like her from the beginning and somehow she couldn’t change my mind. She is good character; she is what you would expect her to be. For me she was somehow artificial. Always fixated on herself. But as we say: you never discuss others’ tastes. Or something like that.
What I really enjoyed in this book was how the relationship between Alexander and Elena progressed. It was somehow really real. Both of them before coming together had other relationships, and half of the book tells us about them. You’ll think that Alexander would have been faithful to Elena during his obsession. Sorry to disappoint you there. You get to read a lot about his relationships and in very vivid colors. You read and you see all of it in front of you.  Well, if I got you interested grab your copy now! And indulge yourself in this outstanding book. I can promise you only one thing: if you are a fan of dark erotica you’ll adore this book immensely.

My Thoughts:

In the beginning there was a girl who had a gift, another one who wanted to kill herself and a teacher who wanted to help all of his students. And then came a ghost who seeked vengeance and a boy who wanted to help a girl and everything came crashing down.

The story was just an average ghost story, with a knight in shining armor aka Kevin, dumb girl who thought that the ghost was her soul-mate aka Vivi, a jealous friend aka Danielle and of course the ghost villain aka Patrick and well I guess I forgot the star of this book – Daisy aka a person who is a self charging superhuman. Where all of this came crashing down for me? Somewhere in the middle when I understood what was going to be happening next. Well, putting the book aside did help a lot, but then even after going back to it, my not so happy attitude didn’t change a bit.

My favourite character? None. Well, maybe I even liked Patrick a bit. He was definitely a little bit more interesting to read about. Daisy was too whiny; she was always self-pitying herself because she had a gift. Vivi was too spineless. Danielle? Huh, you just have to read to know about her. And Kevin? Whiny with too much theories.

Mostly I wasn’t all that good struck by the book, but maybe you will and it will become your #1 in the library. I was just stating my mind. Feel free to tell me why you liked it, I am always happy to receive feedbacks. So if anyone is considering the book, Happy Reading. And well, never whine if you have a gift! That’s just pathetic, what should we normal people say??
