Review : Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare ( The Infernal Devices # 3 )

Summary (from Goodreads)

Title: Clockwork Princess

Author: Cassandra Clare

Publication Date: 19th March 2013

Publisher: Simon & Shuster, Margaret, K. McElderry Books

Goodreads - Amazon - Barnes & Noble

Summary:

A net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. Mortmain plans to use his Infernal Devices, an army of pitiless automatons, to destroy the Shadowhunters. He needs only one last item to complete his plan: he needs Tessa Gray.

Charlotte Branwell, head of the London Institute, is desperate to find Mortmain before he strikes. But when Mortmain abducts Tessa, the boys who lay equal claim to her heart, Jem and Will, will do anything to save her. For though Tessa and Jem are now engaged, Will is as much in love with her as ever.

As those who love Tessa rally to rescue her from Mortmain’s clutches, Tessa realizes that the only person who can save her is herself. But can a single girl, even one who can command the power of angels, face down an entire army?

Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment, and the tangled threads of love and loss intertwine as the Shadowhunters are pushed to the very brink of destruction in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.

My Thoughts:

Are we ready for the final instalment of the Infernal Devices series? If not, please refer to my previous reviews: Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince. But if you have been following my reviews or reading the books, let’s recap where left Tessa, Jem, Will and many other of our favourite characters. As you should already know Jem proposed to Tessa, she accepted; Will finally understood that there is no curse on him, but he was a bit late with the revelation to Tessa. The Barnwell’s finally understood that they both love each other and there’s a baby on the way. Jessamine is kept in the city of bines, Nate is dead, Mortmain is nowhere to be found… am I missing anything? Oh, sorry the Demon Pox exists and guess who has it? You might be wondering why is she even asking that question? She literally spoiled Clockwork Prince with everything above. Don’t worry, I’ll be spoiling this too… *snickers.

So, let’s get back to today’s book. the subject that I want to discuss the most is the ending, and I remember mentioning it when I was reviewing City ofHeavenly Fire. But before I start discussing that let me remind you, that this is the 2nd time I’m reading this book and it again sucked me into t without any problem. It’s true it’s the largest of the three, but then again here was a lot to be told, and a lot of secrets to unravel and a number of villains to kill. Are you ready for this adventure? Are you to face Mortmain’s clockwork army, which I might say is quite deadly. Are you ready to take a journey into Tessa’s past and unravel the secret of her birth? You will see how vengeance drives some mad and you’ll see how power corrupts. There’s a war coming and not everyone is prepared for it. You’ll have to question your loyalties a number of times, and be ready for anything unexpected to happen.

And lastly, let e address the major issue. A small disclaimer if you haven’t read the book yet, you can stop reading the review now as I’ll be spoiling the major event. i.e. the ending. If you are already familiar with it, please stick with me and let’s have a small discussion. First of all, don’t get me wrong I love happy ending, especially in such books, but I also love the idea that is the key of all love-triangles – someone is left heart broken or doesn’t get the girl or the boy. However, here in the epilogue Clare does something contradicting it. If Tessa did stay with Will at the end of the book, as Jem got turned into a silent brother, in the epilogue i.e. 130 years later Jem gets his “normal” life back and they go into the sunset together. I remember the first time I read it, I was happy, but once I closed the book I was a  bit pissed. It’s like the author didn’t want to leave anyone unhappy, so she made that, it’s similar how at the end of City of Heavenly Fire Sebastian says sorry everything he has done… pathetic… so, once again when I finished the book I was happy for Tessa, because she got t be with both of them. If you about it, I believe Clare was hinting that she’ll keep Jem and Tessa together at some point. Do you remember that moment when Woosley Scott tells Tessa that she’s lucky to have 2 loves in her life?

But let me finish it for today. If you have similar ideas or would to share yours with me I’m always open for a good debate! Enjoy reading or rereading the book ad don’t forget to share your thoughts below! Stay tuned for more reviews as well as promos and don’t miss your next favourite book or manga! Happy reading!

Book Review: Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare (The Infernal Devices #2)

Summary (from Goodreads)

Title: Clockwork Prince

Author: Cassandra Clare

Publication Date: 6 Dec 2012

Publisher: Simon & Shuster

Summary:

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

My Thoughts:

Are you ready for the second book in Infernal Devices series? Well, if you are reading today’s review, means you’ve either just finished Clockwork Angel, though I’m not sure how could you actually not start this one right after you finished the first book. But well, if you are new to the series, what are you doing here? For to my review for the first book or better yet get it without a second thought.

I guess, I just lost half of my audience, but if you, my dear reader, are still here., thank you lots! So, do you remember where we left of in the previous review? Let me get you a brief idea. Tessa Gray comes to London in search of her brother – Nate. She meets many people both enemies as well as friends. And of course she finds love out there, but as everything else it s not easy to love or be loved. Yes, right now I’m talking about how Will turned down Tessa and quite harshly to say the truth. So, what’s his big deal? And what’s going to happen now that Mortmain has got the pyxis and can build the army f clockwork creature?

So, what is so interesting in this book? Apart from many secrets unraveled? Do you remember me mentioning the cutest love triangle being born in the first book review? Here, you’ll have it in full swing, and trust me some characters will amaze you. Yes, Jam being one of them. You will see a fantastic character development in all characters. Many will switch sides and many will shock you with their pasts. But overall, this book is a fantastic sequel to clockwork Angel. It’s one of those books that get better after rereading them. I’m off to read the last installment. And believe me, I’m anticipating it as if I haven’t read it yet! Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts below! Stay tuned for more reviews as well as promos. Don’t miss your next favourite book or manga! Happy reading!

Book Review: Unspoken by C. C. Hunter (Shadow Falls: After Dark #3)

Summary (from Goodreads)

Title: Unspoken

Author: C. C. Hunter

Publication Date: 28 October 2015

Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin

Summary:

Despite her superhuman strength and enhanced senses, Della Tsang's life as a vampire certainly hasn't been easy. Especially since she was reborn and bound to the mysterious, infuriating, and gorgeous Chase Tallman.

But if there's one thing that's always kept Della going, it's her dream of being an elite paranormal investigator. Her newest case is the opportunity she's been waiting for, but as Della tries to solve the twenty year old murder and clear her father's name. She uncovers secrets about the vampire council. And about Chase.

Feeling betrayed by all the secrets he's kept hidden from her, Della is determined to keep him as far away from her heart as she can. But she'll need his help to solve the case that will lead them into the darkest and ugliest vampire gangs in town and into the scariest reaches of her heart.

My Thoughts:

Have you been waiting for a book to be released? Of course you have, but imagine this: you pre-ordered it, you got it on the day of release, but you could only start reading after a month. Why? Well, it might have been because you had exams and work and every time you took the book in your hands, you just couldn’t open it. Yes, that what happened to me. My parents and friends even thought something was wrong with my brain. I couldn’t really blame them, but enough about my issues, let me talk about the book!

I loved it, but I wanted a bit more, that’s why it’s not full 5 leaves. But let me explain: as always I was crawling with laughter due to Della’s fantastic language., her description of men’s genitalia’s keep getting better and better and I mean it . My book is full of highlights! But that’s not all the book is about. As always it’s fast paced and full of action, but somehow I would have loved a bit more action towards the end. Especially the whole Stine issue resolving. Who the hell is that? Well, read the series and you’ll get the whole scope on the satiation, because even if I start explaining my explanation will get lost and I might no, I will spoil the “fun”.

Are you ready to unravel who is behind the murders? Are you ready to see whom Della chose? Are you ready to be there when Della’s family falls apart? I hope you are as the answers to these questions and many more are waiting for you in the book! So should I start what made me deduct that 0/5 leaves? It’s quite easy I wanted a bit more. Truth be told throughout the book I had this weird feeling that there should be more, another book, that it was not enough to finish Della’s story! I wanted more Della and Chase, more of her badass moments, it was a bit of a bummer that she appeared kind of weak in this book, but then again it is said that it takes great strength to show your weakness. And trust me Della in my mind is a strong character. I wanted more from the last battle. It was a bit too rushed. I wanted to see more of Della’s badass behavior! Am I asking for too much? But in the whole picture this book is a great book to complete the trilogy ad I’m on full alert to know if C.C. Hunter is going to be continuing with writing about Shadow Falls. The Kylie surprise in the book was an awesome one. I was anticipating it, but never thought I would be able to read about it. What is it? Not talking! Grab your copy now and find the answers for yourself! One thing that I do have the similar opinion with Chase is that I really did want to rip Della’s dad to shreds. And trust me so will you! The dude blew my mind full time!

Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts below! Stay tuned for more reviews as well as promos. Don’t miss your next favorite book or manga! Happy reading!

My Thoughts:

Hi, guys and welcome back to Katie’s Corner! Today’s the not the first day I’m making a mini book review, but it’s a first I’m putting it on its designated day. Why? Well, because throughout August I’ve been reading and reviewing, so I can put one or two mini review every second Sunday.

First of all, do not read this before reading both Reborn and Eternal, or at least Reborn! Trust me, I spoiled so much excitement because I read it. Second, why is this book not a Shadow Falls After Dark novel? I mean, if you haven’t read the new books, you wouldn’t have gotten what the hell was going on. Okay, it’s still explained why Della is the super new vampire or why Perry left, but still it’s damn confusing in the beginning!

But let’s get back to the book. Have you been wanting for Miranda to tell her story? Or at least a portion of it? But we finally get answers to many questions, and you’ll be shocked at many of the secrets that her family is hiding. Are you ready to dive in the Wicca competition? You should be, all the hell is going to get lose once the competition starts and you don’t want to miss all the fun! Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts! Stay tuned for more and happy reading!

Book Review: Taken at Dusk by C. C. Hunter (Shadow Falls #3)

Summary (from Goodreads)

Title: Taken at Dusk

Author: C. C. Hunter

Publication Date: April 10, 2012

Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin

Summary:

Step into Shadow Falls, a camp for teens with supernatural powers.  Here friendship thrives, love takes you by surprise, and our hearts possess the greatest magic of all.

Kylie Galen wants the truth so badly she can taste it. The truth about who her real family is, the truth about which boy she’s meant to be with—and the truth about what her emerging powers mean.  But she’s about to discover that some secrets can change your life forever…and not always for the better.

Just when she and Lucas are finally getting close, she learns that his pack has forbidden them from being together.  Was it a mistake to pick him over Derek? And it’s not just romance troubling Kylie. An amnesia-stricken ghost is haunting her, delivering the frightful warning, someone lives and someone dies. As Kylie races to unravel the mystery and protect those she loves, she finally unlocks the truth about her supernatural identity, which is far different—and more astonishing—than she ever imagined.

My Thoughts:

Hi everyone and welcome back to Katie’s Corner! I’m moving on with Shadow Fall Series and today I have the 3rd book for you. If you have never heard of this series then my advice: check it out right now, you can find my reviews for book 1 and book 2 just by clicking on them. If you are a fan or not so much, I appreciate if you keep reading and afterwards if you share your thoughts with me. Always love finding a person who loves the same series!

Now, let’s get back to the story. We have left Kylie wondering what kind of supernatural she is, as well as with a big boy problem at hand. Oh, add to the chaos that she is being hunted down by a weird supernatural, and you get her life at the beginning of the book. Does any of this improve? Let’s just say not really. She does find out what she is, but still doesn’t understand what it means, not spilling a secret here! She does choose the guy, and thank you for picking my choice – Lucas, though the guy acts most of the time like a total jerk, with his whole pack business and wanting Kylie to become the werewolf too much. Even though I like him, he still pissed me off in this book, though it was not as much when I first read it, as now I at least know what the problem he was dealing with. Getting to the juicy part! The villain is still on the run, wanting now Kylie dead more than ever, plus now FRU also wants Kylie to run some tests on her! What’s she going to do? That’s in the next book and for you to know. Though we get to see some good guys die as well as some bad guys coming to the “good” side.

We meet some family members, and Kylie’s ghosts are as confusing as ever, but she’s finally getting a grip with her powers. Or better be said, she still in process and whatever her brain pattern shows right now doesn’t really help to solve the mystery. We get to see at least one relationship progress normally that’s Miranda and Perry. Those two finally get together. But before that happens, there are tons of awkward but also very fun moments. Especially someone turning into a kangaroo. I doubt you’ll be able to hold laughter when you know who was turned.

Finally there’s some development between Burnett and Holiday, I’m so rooting for those two! I hope you will grab your copy now, if you haven’t read it yet. You’ll love Shadow Falls camp, soon to be a boarding school. Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts below! Stay tuned for more reviews as well as promos. Don’t miss your next favourite book or manga! Happy reading!
