The New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments continues—and so do the thrills and danger for Jace, Clary, and Simon.

What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

Personal Thoughts:

I actually had to wait for this one to come out. And I had it by the second day it was out. My expectations were high, I knew I would see more of Sebastian aka Jonathon Christopher aka Clary's real brother aka the dude with Lilith blood in veins aka Valentine's not so good experiment ( he couldn't control him as he wanted to). I know too many aka-s but what to say, he is that awesome. I am partly kidding, because, he is super awesome, and out of his mind at the same time. I think all villains have that, but the problem with this one is, that he truly believes he is doing a perfect thing, and he has no morals ( I mean really to kiss Clary and want her after she knows he is her brother, super gross). I guess the like father like son or as it goes. In this review I do really want to focus on Simon, Izzy, Alec + Magnus and Sebastian. Why not Clary and Jace? Fisrt I will answer why not Jace, he is super possessed during the whole book, and only breaks in the middle, and after Clary uses arcangel Michael's Sword on him, so that was not that much fun, of course there romance was a to read, and his snarky comments where something even a bond can't take. But we will have time for him and Clary in the final book City of Heavenly Fire. Even the motto is what has to be disscussed there : Will their Love be their salvation or downfall? I love it, but back to our other main characters.

Simon Lewis, aka Clary's best friend, aka a vampire/daylighter ( vampire dude who can walk during day, read City of Ashes (book #2) to know why) aka walking curse to everyone who want to attack him ( he has a mark of Cain read City of Glass (book #3) to know why), aka having an affair with two deadly girls at the same time Maya (the werewolf) and Izzy ( shadowhunter) for those who doesn't know he settled on Izzy. :D Okay back to the point. If in the first book, Simon was just a good friend and "nothing" through book #2,3 and 4, we see how he is growing up, forming a good even an aweosme character. It is amazing how he is risking himslf to summon angel Raziel, and ask him for Michael's sword. And it was that another his act that made me love him more. And his realtionship with Izzy...

Izzy, aka most gorgeous gild ever, aka awful cook, aka dates anyone who will not be approved by her parents just to take their eyes that Alec is gay. And this time is Simon, but somehow theoir feelings grow into something more:
Her eyes shimmered, and before he could wonder for more than a moment whether it was with tears, he had leaned forward and kissed her. This time it wasn„t awkward. This time she leaned into him, and he was suddenly under her, rolling her on top of him. Her long black hair fell down around them both like a curtain. She whispered to him softly as he ran his hands up her back. He could feel her scars under his fingertips, and he wanted to tell her he thought of them as ornaments, testaments to her bravery that only made her more beautiful. But that would have meant stopping kissing her, and he didn„t want to do that. She was moaning and moving in his arms; her fingers were in his hair as the two of them rolled sideways, and now she was under him, and his arms were full of the softness and warmth of her, and his mouth with the taste of her, and the scent of her skin, salt and perfume and… blood. He stiffened again, all over, and Isabelle felt it. She caught hold of his shoulders. She was luminous in the darkness.
“ Go ahead, “ she whispered. He could feel her heart, slamming against his chest. “I want you to.
He closed his eyes, pressed his forehead to hers, tried to calm himself. His fangs were back, pushing into his lower lip, hard and painful.“ No."...
....He touched her face.
“ And you're not scared of anything."
“ I don't know. “ Her hair fell forward. “ Maybe you'll break my heart. “ Before he could say anything, she kissed him, and he wondered if she could taste her own blood. “ Now shut up. I want to sleep, “ she said, and she curled up against his side and closed her eyes.
Somehow, now, they fit, where they hadn't before. Nothing was awkward, or poking into him, or banging against his leg. It didn't feel like childhood and sunlight and gentleness. It felt strange and heated and exciting and powerful and… different. Simon lay awake, his eyes on the ceiling, his hand stroking Isabelle„s silky black hair absently. He felt like he'd been caught up in a tornado and deposited somewhere very far away, where nothing was familiar. Eventually he turned his head and kissed Izzy, very lightly, on the forehead; she stirred and murmured but didn„t open her eyes.
And that's something we don't read much about in TMI. I mean, I knew Simon and Izzy liked each other, but this, this little expert (which is not whole) is giving us something new about both of them. And I love that side of Simon and especially Izzy. But now we should jump to Alec and Magnus

Alec + Magnus, atually I do think that their break up is Magnus'es fault. The biggest part, Alec is also to blame, but mostly Magnus. First, I understand Alec's frunstation to know more about Magnus'es past, that's normal, and what does Magnus do about it? Nothing, she just shrugs it off. And there is this whole I'm-immortal-and-you-are-mortal talk, where again Magnus shrugs it all off. And that's what causes Alec seek answers, and that's how Camille makes deals with him. Because desparate people ( and Alec is seriously desparate) make rush and stupid decisions, and "people" like Camille know all of this not because they are super old, but because they know people well.

Sebastian, I will not quote myself with all his AKA-s. We know them all. I don't know if I said it in this review or other ones, but I have this whole obsession with villains. And sebastian is definately the most awesome, and super crazy villain. He is aweosme, because he is an awesome shadowhunter, and he is just awesome ( for meactually, I don't know if he is that awesome for others). But he is really crazy and amoral. But again, he was raised by Valentine, and he has Lilith's blood, so he has to be plain super crazy. and amoral, he did really think that Clary could love love him??? He is not an idot, but that was a move by an idiot. Kissing Clary was something a guy like Sebastian could not do! and I mean it! At that time I did wanted to kill him. But not when he had jace under "bond", why? Because he is desparate to be loved, and he knows that nobody can love him as he is, he has to force that love, like he did with Jace, and that just rose my pity for him, and hate for Valentine again but not him.

I do think that I should stop, so that you will be really interested while reading. and really, do read it, and the whole series, it is an awesome story of Good and Evil fighting, and it is in an even more awesome fiction world, which leaves you breathless, and you do try to see more in plain buildings, or maybe they are not that much of plain, and everything is real...

Happy Reading, and please leave your comments or suggestions for books. Thanks :))
