Book Review : Shy Kinda Love by Deanna Eshler

Summary (from Goodreads)

Title: Shy Kinda Love

Author: Deanna Eshler

Publication Date: 4 Feb, 2015

Publisher:

Summary:

When I was eleven, my best friend died in a car accident. When I was twelve, my mom walked out, leaving only a note to say goodbye. When I was eighteen, I was forced into witness protection.

My new name is Shyanne Adams. To protect myself, and painless existence, I do not live. I do not laugh. I do not love. For the last three years, the only meaningful thing I’ve done is care for the horse I rescued.

But now, at the age of twenty-one, the one person from both my past and present is pushing me to start living. Before I know it, I’m moving in with new friends who make me laugh. And next door is Kade Cross, the guy who wants me to love.

Kade knows that I will complicate his life, but he welcomes the challenge. He sees that I’m broken, but he doesn’t try to fix me. When he knows I’m trying to push him away, he braces for the impact.

What Kade doesn’t know is that I could have to relocate at any time. So I have to decide: is experiencing love for a short time worth the pain of losing it?
This New Adult Romance is an emotional journey through pain and healing as Shyanne decides to start living again, but never forgetting she could lose this life… just like her last one.

My Thoughts:

Hi everyone and welcome back to Katie’s Corner! Today I have a book, which I received from publisher in exchange for an honest review. So, well, all the thought that I will write here are my own and I won’t be exaggerating anything. Now let me get back to the review. I can’t say I didn’t like the book, but I didn’t really enjoy it so much. I men, I lost the interest at least twice and I had this could-you-make-some-development king of feeling. I understand that the author’s main focus was Shy’s feelings and her emotional trauma. But while I always wail that there’s not much if interaction between the lovers, her it was too much. The “action” starts at nearly the end of the book, and I couldn’t really call it action. It was too fast. One thing that I can say certainly is that the author got better at the end of the book. I could finally feel Shy’s emotions; maybe it was because I had a whole picture, but I just think that author her niche and knew how to portray Shyanne.

There are many interesting characters; thought 90% of them frustrated me a lot. Two of them were Adrian and Keegan – a silly couple. I really didn’t get Adrian, was he a bit masochistic or what? I breathed a sign of relief when in the Epilogue he left for Texas. Though I would have [referred him to go to Mexico. Keegan if you ask me is the worst character; her but-I-am-giving-you-free-excitement attitude never even put a smile on my face. I just wanted to slap her and give her a lecture on proper behavior. It had been a long time since a character annoyed me so much. I think the best character was Kade, tough he’s a tad weird for wanting all of that in his life. But I forgive him, because he was in love. What I did like about him was his attitude and perfect behavior. Though you might find his stunts a bit annoying, like crawling into Shy’s bed, he still left me with good impression. He was what 21, 22? How the hell was he so mature? Most of the guys that I know of that age are still like high-school kids, just pretending to act mature.

Another great thing that this novel has is, how it described the starting of Kade’s and Shy’s relationship. I really liked it. How one was on defensive and another on offensive, how Kade finally slipped thought the walls of Shy’s heart/ thought she did make one thing that made me scream, but I’m not spoiling that too. It’s better to read for yourself. As I always say, my reviews are reflections of my and only my thoughts, and my opinions doesn’t clash with everyone else’s all that often. You may find this book one o the best romances ever, that’s your opinion, but first give it a chance, don’t overlook it just because it didn’t meet my expectations. (And those are always pretty high and not always met fully)

Enjoy it to its fullest! Get to know some great characters and don’t forget to share your thoughts below! Stay tuned for more on Katie’s Corner! Don’t miss your next favourite book or manga. Happy reading!

My Thoughts

Review covers 15 chapters

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Katie’s Corner! Today I have yet another amazing work by Saki Aikawa. It’s called “In Love with You”, and I believe this title best describes this story. This story is absolutely only about love. There are many similar stories, but only Saki Aikawa brought fourth the feelings of the girl who is in between of two guys. I enjoyed Yuna as a character. Normallt I’m never a fan of the love triangles, but here it just took a whole new level of love triangle, which made my heart beat a lot when it was time to make the decision.

The story begins with Yuna and her classmate Hayato giving it a chance at a relationship. Why do I say it like that? Yuna is still not over her ex – Takumi. But when everything is amazing between Yuna and Hayato, and she even tells him that she is in love with him, something has to happen right? Well, Takumi comes back, and if in the very beginning you just hate Takumi for what he did to Yuna, as soon as you understand what had really happened, you can’t hate him anymore. And you will find yourself cheering on him to get Yuna back. Well, that’s for you to find out if he does get her back. There are only 9 chapters translated in English on Mangafox, but as I know Russian I could read the last chapters on a Russian website, however, I’ve read somewhere, that soon the last 6 chapters will also be translated. But, I highly recommend you to start it right now. You’ll love this story a lot.

I think I can’t hold this in, so I have to bitch about Takumi a bit. He’s a good character, but at some point I just wanted to kill him. Who in his right mind tells his girlfriend that some other girl is going to come before her, just because his bike injured her? Dude, it was an accident, and even a total idiot would have guessed that she did it intentionally. But no, he just has an idiot’s mind and tells his girlfriend that! I wonder how much Yuna loved him, to not break up with him because of that. I would have been so furious. But well, you need to read for yourself to understand what I mean by all that.

I hope you will find some time to read this amazing story. It was an amazing roller coaster of feelings for me and I hope you will love it as much as I did. Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts below. I’m always happy to hear what you think. Stay tuned for more reviews and promos on Katie’s Corner. Happy reading!

My Thoughts

Review covers 40 chapters

Hello my lovey readers. I’m trying to bring something new into my opening sentence. Welcome back to Katie’s Corner and a mini manga review is having an 8-volume manga covered this time. Why so? Well, I was too lazy to write a normal one, but I didn’t want to miss the chance to share my experience with this story.

First of all it’s not a manga but a manhwa. (Note to myself, write a small post about these differences) So if you are interested check it out once it’s published. The story is about love… wait, there are gangsters all around, a lot of violence mixed with relationships and true love.

Have you had a bully in the grade school that bullied you for no reason? Well, what s that bully… opps, sorry I nearly spilt the secret. Well, this story has what we call a “normal” school life of Korean high schoolers. Are you ready to have fun while getting to know all characters? You’ll have too much fun, cracking up on the jokes and personalities of every character.

I recommend this story a lot to read after a two-day exam period. It just makes your mind float in a universe of its own. Stay tuned to Katie’s corner! Have fun reading!

XOXO
