Summary (from Goodreads)

Title: Valkyrie Rising

Author: Ingrid Paulson

Publication Date: 9th October 2012

Publisher:  HarperTeen

Summary:

Nothing ever happens in Norway. But at least Ellie knows what to expect when she visits her grandmother: a tranquil fishing village and long, slow summer days. And maybe she’ll finally get out from under the shadow of her way-too-perfect big brother, Graham, while she’s there.

What Ellie doesn’t anticipate is Graham’s infuriating best friend, Tuck, tagging along for the trip. Nor did she imagine boys going missing amid rumors of impossible kidnappings. Least of all does she expect something powerful and ancient to awaken in her and that strange whispers would urge Ellie to claim her place among mythological warriors. Instead of peace and quiet, there’s suddenly a lot for a girl from L.A. to handle on a summer sojourn in Norway! And when Graham vanishes, it’s up to Ellie—and the ever-sarcastic, if undeniably alluring Tuck—to uncover the truth about all the disappearances and thwart the nefarious plan behind them.

Deadly legends, hidden identities, and tentative romance swirl together in one girl’s unexpectedly-epic coming of age.

My Thoughts:

So, I really thought why not to finish with all my books on North Mythology. I actually read this one before Rune Series by Ednah Walters. This was the book, which made me interested in the Nordic Mythology. I came across this book in December 2012, but as I had this whole school exams, and somehow, I didn't get interested, or I just had some other books to read. But the point as always is, that my low expectations were disapointed, and I really liked the book. It actually had everything I like in the book. Great main female character, who I really liked for her character, funny and arrogant male character, Awesome family secret and of course lot's of action.

Elsa (Ellie) is funny, responsible character. By responsible I mean that she takes responsibility on her destiny, and her family, and the town where they want to burn her because they think she's responsible for all disapearances. Actually I always laugh at such cities, and they really do drive me crazy sometimes.

Actually, I won't tell you much, just that this book is full of action once you read chapter like 7 or 8. Best girl character, and really hot guy, a brother, family secret and of course gods who as always try to kill or do something stupid to each other. I think the book doesn't need any words to describe it. the book talks for itself, and actually the pre-short story is also awesome, but it is better to read the book first. And I do want the book to have the prequel, it will be interesting what will Loki do.
