Have you ever read a book so good that you couldn’t get off the high? Well this was one of such books. I started it on the plane back home, and finished it on the bus (okay I was like 96% done when we had to get off the bus, so I finished it in the morning. But hell, this is not what I wanted to talk about!

This book just was good, I was so engrossed that my partner had to shake me just to talk to me about his book.

The only reason why I gave the book 4.5 leaves is because 1. The cliffhangers should be banned! 2. The world was not described well enough. I understood somewhere in the middle, that this book is part of the series, and there’s a whole another 3 book series about Mercedes’ brother and his wife. (And yes, I will read about it after some time).

Did I love this book? Yes, It was AMAZING! Yes some of the times logic was non-existent, but hell if this book wasn’t everything I needed at that moment! It has mystery for those of use who have o clue about IVI society. And the tension between Judge and Mercedes was something that could not have been cut even with an axe (yup, it was that thick!).

Mercedes was an interesting character, that grows on you. She’s dumb in parts, she’s wilful, she’s courageous, and she’s just perfect, and I can’t wait for her to become an even better female lead in the next books!


Judge, Judge, Judge…. His honour! Daddy incarnate, one thing is for sure, he was way too fickle for my liking. He was a tad bit too overbearing! I mean, his torment whether or not he could take Mercedes for himself was lacking! I would have liked to see him suffer sooo much more. Plus he knew about Mercedes life (or at least got to know about her life and childhood from her), but he still acted as a jerk. It’s understandable that it was all for the sake of the plot, but still! He should take out his head from his arse, and acknowledge his feelings! Before she’s taken from him!

Get ready for a ride of your life! And trust me, you will want to scream at the end of the book too! Good thing is, the second book will be coming soon!
