Summary:

"Everyone in the world has a spark, a light inside that guides them, keeps them alive.”

Myxini School for Children specializes in training young men and women who have powerful sparks. Strikers are taught to manipulate fire. Trackers learn to find animals in the most formidable terrains. Handlers are instructed in communication with large predators. But forty years have passed since the last time they had a Reader – a student with the ability to read minds.

When Lark Davies enrolls at Myxini, he knows there aren’t many like him, but he doesn’t realize just how rare his abilities really are. He thinks nothing of being asked to keep his spark a secret; after all, he can barely control it. Thoughts and emotions flood unbidden into his mind until he can scarcely walk or hold a conversation. But just when he needs it most, his ability fails him.

Larks meets Khea, a small frightened girl who mysteriously insights his protective nature. He has no explanation for the curious strength of their relationship, and it doesn’t help that she is one of the few people in the world whose thoughts can’t be read. As he struggles to get to the root of their unique bond, Lark begins to unravel more power than even his mentor expected, but in the process makes himself a target to political leaders eager to take control.

My Thoughts:

The book was amazing. I got it from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thought presented here are my own. The book takes place in the world which looks like our medieval era.  People are at war because of steal or food. And while there is a truth now, soon it will be changed. Why? Well all stories should have villains, but this one has it so perfectly described that you never know who he or she is until the very end. But the first villain or villains are a headmistress and headmaster or the school for gifted or those who have spark. But if I continue like this everything will be even more confusing, so listen closely, because I am not going to repeat again, and you definitely don’t want to miss such an incredible book.

The story follows Lark, a boy of 14 summers on a journey to and through Myxini school aka school for gifted. What is Lark’s gift? He can read peoples’ minds. On his way he meets a girl – Khea, who he falls in love with, but doesn’t know that yet and Micha his loyal friend. The journey to Myxini is nothing like his school years. He needs to ass the training and most challenging is to understand his tutor. Lark’s journey is full of adventure and struggle with himself and his tutor. Will he overcome all challenged and will he get his pendant? Will he understand that he is in love with Khea and the most troubling question, does she share his feeling? And last but not least, will they be able to overcome the evil which is threatening their countries?

I liked the book for just it. I don’t know how to tell you it better. It has everything: Mind-blowing intrigued, breathtaking romance and chilling action. Nothing is perfect, but somehow this book contained everything good in it and was giving me a feeling of kindness when I was reading it. I was cheering for Lark all through the book. I felt his need to help ad to avenge. The author gives ys another story of good VS evil, but the plot is unique and that is what makes the book so interesting. You get lost into it and you feel full when you finish it. It has an ending which gives your own imagination to break boundaries and create your own ending for the story.

I was heartbroken to say goodbye to some of the characters before it was time, and well Lark and Khea will always remain deep down in my heart. I hope you will consider reading this book and making its magic work on you too. The book is suitable for all ages. Happy Reading!!! And don’t forget to share your thoughts. Are you still here? Go, grab your copy now, you won’t regret it!
