December Cultural Events Calendar

 Hi, lovelies!

As you've noticed the new feature of the blog: Events Overview is now out and it's time to announce another feature, that I've been thinking of creating for the past few months!

The feature is a Calendar Subscription. Yes, you've heard it right, there now exists a calendar that has all the events that I believe are interesting and that I plan to attend!

Do note that the calendar includes the following:

  • Concerts (classical music concerts, a mixture of Cypriot and other music concerts)
  • Festivals (music, art, theatre, dance,)
  • Theatre (in English, or with English subtitles, sometimes in Russian)
  • Dance (Ballet on stage and live screenings in cinemas, contemporary)
  • Opera (Live on stage and screenings in cinemas)
  • Art exhibitions
Please note that I compile the events from different sources (such as the websites of the theatres, and galleries and sold-out tickets, facebook and other places, I just wanted to create a platform that would have events from all across the places as the platform I was using previously doesn't work).

The calendar is getting updated weekly or when I see something interesting going on and add the event straight to it. Please do note that I include all information about the event in the notes and the URL will lead you to the website where I found the event and you can get the tickets! The events also include location, so you can check where it is held (Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos).

But let's dive into December Calendar!

Event Overview: Spartacus 29.11.2021

Hi lovelies!

How was your weekend? Mine was fabulous, first it was the Jazz showcase in Rialto (you can find more about it here), and then on a Sunday, the cinema’s once again welcomed the live screenings of the ballet. Specifically, it was a live screening from Bolshoi of their masterpiece Spartacus.

Spartacus is one of those ballets where if you’ve seen it once it becomes your all time favourite. For me, it was when I was 12 or 13 year old, and my grandma bought a DVD or maybe it was a VHC cassette of Spartacus. 5 minutes into the ballet and I was mesmerised! The music by Khachaturian, the choreography of Grigorovich, the decorations of Versaladze. And of course let’s not forget the fantastic performances of the dancers, specifically that of Spartacus and Crassus. For me, it was Liepa’s Crassus, that blew my mind, and even now when I am seeing other reproductions, I am unconsciously comparing them.

Event Overview: 8th Cyprus Jazz and World Music Showcase

 Hi Lovelies,

As part of the blog rebranding, a new feature called “Event Overview” will be going live! I hope you are as excited as I am, because this new Corner of my blog will focus fully on cultural events that I’m attending, so get ready to read my thoughts on the symphony orchestra once again showcasing their talents, my favourite gallery hosting a new exhibition, and music or theatre festivals going on.

As I live in Nicosia, Cyprus, the events will most probably be focused on this location, but I will be having a featured post of all new events going on which may be interesting to everyone! One thing I’d like to make clear is that my blog will mostly feature concerts, art exhibitions, ballet and opera and theatre performances (in English). The theatre is mostly because I don’t speak Greek at a level of going to theatre and understanding what’s going on.

But let’s dive into today’s event!

Book Review: A Court of Silver and Flames by Sarah J Maas

A Court of Silver Flames (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #4)A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 4 of 5 leaves

Honestly, I got into the series, around 3 years ago, when I was travelling and reading the first book while stopping at different book shops, but then I got all 3 books (actually 3.5 including the Novella), and 2 days later, I was finished, only to realise that I had to wait for 2 years (which later became 3) for the 4th book.

When I got to know that the book will be about Nesta, I had mixed feelings, hence I took my sweet time actually considering whether I wanted the book or not. Let's be honest, no one liked Nesta in the first 3 books (I'm pretty sure, some still don't like her after reading this book either!). But. anyway, September rolled in, and I got the book as a present, and started reading it straight away!

Back to the blog!

Hi, my lovelies!

It's been 3 years since I last posted here, and I truly missed this place!

A lot of things have changed over these 3 years! And I can't wait to share it all with you guys!

First things first, I'm back for good, and in the next few months, there. will be some upgrades to the blog, the website as well as all social media, so Katie's Corner is coming back with reviews, book promotions, manga reviews, and other material full force! The blog will be fully operational from January 2022. For now, do check out my goodreads profile (I may not have been posting reviews here, but I was reading books ^_^) and there will be reviews every week or every two weeks! I'm also planning something major, but first I need to actually put a solid plan on this, but I'll keep you updated!

So... as some of you know (those who follow my Instagram account I started working back in September 2018 at an accounting firm, and because I also had to do a qualification for my certificate, there was just not enough time to keep my blog active. Truthfully, there were days, when I just wanted to read the book, and while I did want to review it, I just couldn't no words were coming, so I was in a reviewer slump if you can call it that. I never stopped reading, I actually switched to reading lots of manhwa and webnovels (which I will most certainly be talking about), but books were not part of my pass-time. I needed something to short circuit my brain, so I could fall asleep, and get over my habit of reading and realising that it's 7am, and I need to go to work.

And on October 2021, I have officially finished my qualification, hence I can focus my undivided attention to my blog, and expand it to include new features!

One thing for sure that you'll notice, is that the Blog design has changed (Yes, I actually went from my Blue-green design to white-blue one, which I love, and hope you'll love it too!). The book reviews will now be in more condensed format. All links will be bringing you to Goodreads, so you can. check out other's reviews, etc!

I will be posting more updates and news in the coming weeks, so do check it out and as it goes: Let's get it started...

XOXO

Katie
